2. Purpose of FutureCapsule

FutureCapsule is a long-term archival and research initiative exploring how students and young people perceive the present and imagine the future.

 

The project collects anonymous survey responses intended for long-term preservation and research-oriented analysis.

 

3. Data Collected

FutureCapsule collects only limited information necessary for research and archival purposes, including:

 

- Study level

- Field of study

- Age group

- Gender

- Country

- University / Institution

- Survey responses and written reflections

- Optional video reflections

 

Participation is generally anonymous unless participants voluntarily include personal information in open text or video responses.

 

No unnecessary personal data is collected.

 

4. Legal Basis

Data is processed solely on the basis of voluntary consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR.

 

By participating, you consent to the processing of your submitted information as described in this Privacy Policy.

 

5. Use of Data

Submitted responses are used exclusively for:

 

- Long-term archival purposes

- Research and analysis of generational perspectives and trends

- Anonymous and aggregated evaluation of survey results

 

Individual submissions are not publicly shared during the archival period unless explicit additional consent is provided.

 

6. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored on secure servers located within the European Union.

 

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect stored data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

 

Where third-party providers are used (e.g. hosting or database services), processing is carried out in accordance with GDPR requirements.

 

7. Retention Period

Submissions may be stored for up to 20 years as part of the archival nature of the project.

 

While reasonable efforts are made to preserve submissions securely over time, FutureCapsule cannot guarantee permanent availability or future retrieval in all circumstances.

 

8. International Participation

FutureCapsule accepts participation from individuals worldwide.

 

Data processing is conducted in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

 

9. Automated Decision-Making

FutureCapsule does not use automated decision-making or profiling.

 

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

 

- Withdraw your consent

- Request access to your data

- Request correction of inaccurate information

- Request deletion where legally applicable

- Restrict processing

- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Participants complete a short structured

questionnaire covering:

 

  • future expectations

  • optimism and uncertainty

  • AI and technology

  • societal concerns

  • expected global change

Submissions remain private by default. Public use only occurs with explicit consent.

Participants confirm they own the rights to their content and agree to long-term archival storage.
